Mission/Vision Statement:
The Southeast Texas Self Advocates
The Southeast Texas Self Advocates (SETX/SA) is an organization of Adults ages 18 and up with and without developmental disabilities run entirely by it’s members. The organization’s goal is to improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities in Southeast Texas through leadership, education, and community service opportunities. The organization is an affiliated chapter of the Texas Advocates and a program within The Arc of Texas and The Arc of Greater Beaumont. events.
Texas Advocates Vision Statement:
People with disabilities embrace life and advocate for their own rights and interest by making their own decisions and choosing services and supports that allow them to live the way they want to live.
Southeast Texas Self Advocates Motto:
“When you see, meet, or think about a person with a disability, PRESUME COMPETENCE”
Southeast Texas Self Advocates Platform:
Elimanate the “R” word.
Typical Activities:
Meetings the first Thursday of every month from 7:00pm to 8:00pm to discuss social and political topics. Annual Day trips for all members, state conferences for officers.
